4-6 June 2017

Microseismic events are generally associated with the release of energy
from rock fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing in unconventional and tight
oil/gas reservoirs often generates a large number of microseismic
events, which can be used to monitor the fracturing process and guide
the completion optimization. Meanwhile, microseismic monitoring
technology is also playing an increasingly important role in
understanding the local stress change in mining, tunnel excavation,
waste water disposal, reservoir impoundment, CO2 sequestration and
monitoring active earthquake faults for safety reasons. Still, there are
a lot of challenges to face in microseismic monitoring technologies and
practical applications. This workshop aims to facilitate the
communications on latest developments in microseismic technologies and
applications, to encourage sharing of microseismic knowledge and to
promote applications of microseismic monitoring in various fields. This
workshop will be held from 4-6 June, 2017 in Westin hotel at Hefei. This
announcement is aimed to call for abstract and make in-depth
discussions among worldwide experts on following subjects:
-
Microseismic data acquisition and signal processing
-
Velocity model updating, anisotropy and its impact
-
Microseismic locations and uncertainties
-
Source mechanisms and geomechanics
-
Microseismic monitoring in unconventional reservoirs
-
Microseismic monitoring in soil and hard rock mechanic applications
-
Microseismic monitoring for natural earthquakes and active faults
-
Induced seismicity due to fluid extraction and injection
